The Regulatory Affairs Manager will play an integral role in Customer Protection’s ongoing efforts to prevent and detect external fraud and scams, and ensuring relevant regulatory obligations and industry standards are met. This pivotal role involves overseeing and managing regulatory engagements and reviews related to external fraud, scheme disputes and scam management and ensuring that our processes and controls are of high standards and meet current and imminent compliance obligations.

What will your day look like
**In this role you will be responsible for (but not limited to)**:
Oversee and manage regulatory engagements and reviews related to external fraud, scheme disputes and scam management.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders including public policy, regulatory compliance, and media relations teams to coordinate engagements and external communications.
Provide advice to the Customer Protection leadership team on existing processes and controls to ensure they comply with regulatory requirements, community expectations and industry best practices.
Act as a conduit for all inquiries from media and regulatory bodies
Prepare the CP team for regulatory and media events and visits, ensuring readiness through training, documentation, and briefing materials.
Represent ANZ during regulatory engagements.
Monitor the regulatory landscape for developments to help the CP BU stay ahead of new obligations and adjust strategies accordingly.
Collaborate with different BU’s to ensure CP is supported in meeting its regulatory obligations
Lead the preparation of detailed reports for senior management on issues relating to external fraud and scams, regulatory compliance, and media activities.
Manage any reputational issues that may arise due to systemic events, by preparing briefs and communication material for ANZ’s media relations and other BU’s as appropriate.
Deliver strategic advice to enhance ANZ’s compliance posture with regards to scams and other related obligations.
Regularly assess the effectiveness of current practices in relation to regulatory risk and propose improvements where necessary.

- A bachelor’s degree in law, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field.
Substantial experience in regulatory affairs, public policy, or media relations within the banking or financial services industry.
In-depth knowledge of Australian regulatory frameworks pertaining to banking, financial crime, disputes resolution and scams.
Strong ability to translate regulatory requirements into operational practices.
Excellent communication skills, with proven experience managing complex stakeholder relationships.
Resilience and ability to operate in high-pressure situations.
Analytical thinker with a problem-solving mindset and acute attention to detail.
