**About the role**:
**_ This role is only open for someone who identifies as an_** Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander.**

The Koorie Student Engagement role works within a small team comprised of other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identifying staff, operating within a culturally safe working environment that is focused on increasing the accessibility of higher education for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This role offers the opportunity to grow or develop skills such as digital content creation, social media branding and event management for small groups. This role works across the institute, ranging from developing events with SLAM staff members to working with the Koorie Services Centre team to provide cultural advice to executive officers. The experience this role provides would provide a pathway into social media managing, graphic design and event management, among others.

**Duties**:

- Promote, organise and lead Koorie student lunches and student events to maintain a sense of community. Work on larger events such as Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week and Moodji Day in collaboration with the Student Life team.
- Be a key point of contact for students to amplify the student voice and uphold the value of self-determination. This will include but is not limited to, student feedback surveys, engagement groups and gathering informal feedback.

**Skills and experience required**:

- You must Relevant qualifications and/or experience ideally within the education sector, Koorie organisational sector or digital communication sector.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, society and kinship networks.
- High level communication skills for both internal and external audiences.
- Demonstrated strong Koorie community networks and connections to support desired outcomes.
- Excellent organisational skills with particular focus on attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering digital content across platforms.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience of enhancing cultural competency and fostering cultural safety.
- Ability to undergo Working With Children's Check and identification verifications and referee checks.
