The coordinator is a pivotal role within the toy library, managing borrowing sessions and acting as the link between members and the committee of management. We are seeking a coordinator who can be the reliable and friendly face of the toy library, manage onsite volunteers, ensure the toy library functions smoothly and form a strong relationship with the committee and members to ensure the toy library remains a welcoming and high-quality community service for families and carers.

The successful applicant will have strong communication, organisational and personal skills, as well as the ability to work well independently.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Register and orientate new members, ensuring borrowers are aware of the rules and responsibilities of being a Port Melbourne Toy Library member
- Coordinate borrowing sessions including the provision of advice and support to members on toy selection as well as management of monetary transactions relating to membership fees and fines
- Training and supervision of volunteers
- Manage toy collection including the maintenance of toys (regular assessment of safety, cleanliness and packaging)
- Develop knowledge of the Port Melbourne Toy Library collection and help identify gaps for toy purchasing
- Foster a welcoming environment for members and volunteers

**HOURS**
- This role is currently for 6 hours a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays, 10 am to 1 pm).
- This is a casual position, paying $ 28,95/hour on weekdays and $40,53/hour on weekends + superannuation.

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Experience in a toy library or community focused not for profit environment desirable but not essential
- Computer literate and confident using a range of computer programs including Google suite. Training will be provided for Mibase, which is used for our toy catalogue and member database
- Experience working with families with young children desirable but not essential
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Administrative skills

**KEY SELECTION CRITERIA**
- Experience or understanding of the value and importance of play
- An understanding of developmental milestones of children and an ability to match appropriate play materials to these developmental stages
- The ability to manage time effectively and work with limited supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to create warm, welcoming and caring environments

**THE POSITION IS SUBJECT TO THE SATISFACTORY COMPLETION OF**
- National Criminal Record Check (paid for by Port Melbourne Toy Library)
- Working with Children Check (paid for by Port Melbourne Toy Library)

**START DATE**
- Immediatelly, with on-site training provided.
