**The opportunity**:
We are seeking an experienced post-doctoral bioinformatician to drive and shape the bioinformatics program within the Infectious Diseases research group. The Infectious Diseases research group is at the forefront of groundbreaking studies, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases in infants, children and adults, with a particular interest in tuberculosis and respiratory infections. We are a dynamic team of researchers with diverse expertise, committed to making a lasting impact on global child health.

As a Post-Doctoral Bioinformatician, you will play a pivotal role in driving and shaping our group’s bioinformatics program. You will be responsible for:
Implementing, maintaining, and updating bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of research data
Conducting analyses into factors influencing vaccine response and infectious disease susceptibility across the life-course
Leading bioinformatic analyses for two groundbreaking clinical trials - the international BRACE trial and the MIS BAIR trial.

**Projects**:
**BRACE Trial**: A phase III randomized controlled trial involving nearly 7000 healthcare workers, testing the impact of BCG vaccination on reducing the severity and impact of COVID-19.

**MIS BAIR Trial**: A phase III, two-group, multisite RCT with over 1200 infants, assessing the effect of neonatal BCG vaccination on clinical allergy and infection outcomes over the first five years of life.

**Your responsibilities include**:

- Dataset Management: Oversee and manage the extensive -omics datasets within the laboratory.
- Pipeline Implementation: Spearhead the implementation and maintenance of bioinformatics pipelines and workflows tailored to the needs of the Infectious Diseases research group.
- Collaborative Engagement: Act as a liaison with IT and other Bioinformatics groups, ensuring the adoption of best practices and common pipelines across the Institute. Focus on continuous improvement of infrastructure requirements.
- Strategic Guidance: Provide valuable advice on bioinformatics experimental design, offering training and support in the utilisation of bioinformatic analysis tools and data analysis for fellow team members.

**About you**:
Hold a PhD qualification in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
Proficiency in R and Python, with expertise in High Performance Computing. Additionally, display the ability to generate web resources and excel in data visualisation techniques
Bring hands-on experience in processing, quality control, and analysis of large -omics datasets. Your skills should encompass adept handling of metadata and cleaning raw data to ensure accurate and reliable results
