**About The Company**
One of Japan's largest and most successful trading and investment houses holds extensive investments in the mining sector in Australia, particularly iron ore and coal, and also supports commodity trading business. This company is currently expanding its investment activities to include the minerals sector, and decarbonisation technologies.

**About The Role**
The Project Coordinator will work within the commercial team of this company, reporting to the Senior Manager. This is a small team with the following main functions:
managing existing joint venture investments, looking for new investment opportunities, and managing the coal trade business from Australia. The primary role of this position will initially be focused on expanding our coal trade business into Japan and the Greater Asia. Once the necessary experience has been gained, the role may expand to managing other trading businesses too, such as carbon trading. Occasional support of the current and new investments within the team would be required too. The role entails regular communication with finance and accounting team, as well as with Head Office in Sydney, the Asian headquarters in Singapore and global headquarters in Tokyo. Key external stakeholders are Australian coal suppliers, coal traders, shipping agents, joint venture
partners, technical consultants, and legal advisors. This is the ideal entry position you can gain all resource Joint venture and trade business.

**Key Responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to**:

- Expanding Coal trade opportunities from Australia to Japan and the Greater Asia region
- Building relationships with coal suppliers to create new trading opportunities
- Developing strategies to create new trade opportunities and penetrate target markets
- Monitoring commodity prices, trends and other factors impacting the supply and demand
- market
- Maintaining up to date information within the coal industry to share within the group
- Negotiating deals with suppliers and customers
- Accommodating customer visits to coal mines and ports within Australia
- Close analysis of joint venture production and financial information, and internal reporting of such information
- Liaising with joint venture partners, external consultants and advisors as necessary
- Collating joint venture and in‐house information to create internal financial forecasts for the business
- Analysis of actual financial results and reconciliation and analysis of actuals Vs forecast.
- Following industry and regulatory trends and reporting internally as needed
- Assisting with ad hoc tasks within the team

Frequent domestic travel will be required, and there may also be some international travel on a less frequent basis.

**About You**
- Ability to work in a high volume, high paced work environment and handle a variety of tasks with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Business level oral and written communication skills in both English and Japanese
- A team player willing to work within a Japanese organisation
- Experience in the commodity trade or resources sector is desirable but not a necessity
- Tertiary Qualifications in a related field, or equivalent experience
