**About the team**

The Resilient Landscapes Hub is one of four research Hubs under the Australian Government’s National Environmental Science Program (NESP). The Hub’s applied research aims to improve the management of Australia’s terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems to make them more resilient to extreme events - including bushfires, droughts and floods - and pervasive pressures such as invasive species. The Hub has a budget of $47 million over 6 years and includes researchers from universities, CSIRO, state government research agencies and a range of other partners.

**About the opportunity**

As part of the Hub’s Knowledge Brokering and Communications team, you will support the communication and adoption of knowledge generated by the NESP Resilient Landscapes Hub to improve decision-making about the management of Australia’s outstanding natural resources.

You will conceive, develop and create science communication products and activities, including writing plain-language summaries of research activity and outcomes, media releases, newsletter stories, and content for the Hub’s website and social media. You will also develop and produce multimedia content such as videos, manage the Hub’s website and social media, and organise events to deliver and promote the Hub’s research outcomes.

You will develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, project partners, research providers, and key media personnel. Other key duties include monitoring and reporting communication outputs and effectiveness to meet funding requirements, liaising with external contractors, and engaging with stakeholders including the Australian Government, industry bodies, Indigenous groups, environmental organisations, community groups, research institutions and the news media.

**About you**

You might be a new graduate from a tertiary science or communication program, or a recent graduate with a few years’ experience under your belt.

You may be a multimedia maven who’s passionate about using videos and photos for scientific storytelling. Perhaps your expertise is generating coverage of research across a range of broadcast and print media. You might be proficient in managing and writing for websites and social media to ensure that research outcomes are easy to find and understand. You’ll engage with external service providers when needed to round out the team’s capacity and capabilities.

Your understanding of the scientific process means you can effectively translate scientific outcomes into communication products targeted to specific stakeholders. You enjoy putting your excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to work in engaging stakeholders, collaborating with partners and organising events. You’re a self-starter who will be working in a small team but within a large network of highly engaged stakeholders.

Occasional in-state and interstate travel is required, and you must have a current ‘C’ class Driver’s licence.
