**The Opportunity**
The Transport Analytics directorate enables efficient and effective decision making by creating and embedding products that transform how data is managed and used. We lead department analytics capability and partner with customers to deliver analytics solutions and insights.

The Manager, Data Engineering and Data Science is accountable to the Director, Transport Analytics for leading the establishment and integration of best practices in data engineering, data architecture and data science. This includes building a platform that supports the development and implementation of customer focused data products and services.

In this role, you'll lead a newly established and talented team to develop and implement customer-centric data products and services. Your expertise in data engineering, architecture, and science will help establish the best practices and fuel analytical transformation across our organisation, driving insights that shape decision-making.

**About You**
You’re a positive and collaborative leader who has demonstrated experience in providing technical and professional leadership, mentoring, direction and expert advice to team members, contract staff and consultants. You understand the technical and know how to get everyone working together, guiding strategic decisions and plans as well as promoting continuous improvement.

With a solid foundation in predictive and prescriptive modeling, along with expertise in data engineering, warehousing, cloud systems, and programming, you will develop innovative solutions to complex technological challenges. You will demonstrate experience in planning and managing large, complex projects, leveraging the latest data analysis techniques to provide valuable insights to business units.

**Requirements**:
Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field such as data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, Information Technology or engineering.

Certification in cloud analytics environments is desirable.

**Special Conditions**
A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

**Remuneration**
MAS3 - $125,970 per annum
