The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has been a major clinical service since its commencement in 1976. The department offers a full orthopaedic service for the southern region of Adelaide and many of the patients cared for by the Flinders Medical Centre Orthopaedic team have experiences some form of trauma. This department also provides a comprehensive Orthopaedic service to the Veteran population.
**About the Role**:
The Orthopaedic Consultant provides clinical services of the highest possible standard to the Orthopaedic Department patients, both in terms of individual performance and by providing clinical leadership and contribution to a multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care. Some of your responsibilities may involve:
- Coordinating the follow up care of patients and providing clinical supervision to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers and Medical Students.
- Ensuring effective communication with other care providers to promote continuity of patient care.
- Acting as a role model and mentor for medical students, registrars, resident medical officers and interns.
**About you**:
- Demonstrated professional integrity, leadership and motivational skills.
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications FRACS and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration.
- Extensive clinical experience relevant to work in Orthopaedic Surgery, including experience in primary hip arthroplasty (DA approach) primary knee arthroplasty, revision arthroplasty and experience in high level trauma and adult paediatric.
- Experience in a variety of settings working with a range of populations including indigenous, culturally and linguistically diverse communities would be an advantage.
