**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Assurance Specialist to play a key role in helping establish the new Business Assurance function and contribute to the delivery of successful business outcomes and ensure appropriate business practices are met.

The Business Assurance Specialist supports the design and delivery of effective governance, risk, and assurance outcomes for the business. This role will advocate and support the continual enhancement of assurance practices and directly guides the EG business to use them effectively, including policies, standards, and guidelines to meet evolving business needs.

**RESPONSIBILITIES IN A SNAPSHOT**

Reporting directly to the Business Assurance Manager, you will:

- Conduct assurance reviews across EG operations, functions, and vendors to evaluate associated risks.
- Prepare Assurance guidelines to target risks/controls at hand and the approved Business Assurance Plan aligned with key processes and systems.
- Perform rigorous analysis across key business systems and reporting to identify trends, emerging risks, and strategic opportunities/ challenges to improve internal controls.
- Seek SME input across the business where needed to support areas of review (eg. Finance, Fuel, Safety, Legal, Safety, IT, P&C).
- Report objectively the results of Assurance reviews including risks, gaps and potential impacts.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders ensuring alignment of risk management and internal assurance practices.
- Support the implementation of recommendations and communicate audit findings with Business Executives or process owners.

**WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?**
- Prior Business Assurance experience in a commercial environment combined with strong analytical and data-reporting skills such as Power BI reporting.
- Applied knowledge of proactive and systematic modern techniques to gain assurance through risk data management processes.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, coupled with a continuous improvement mindset to improve efficiencies across a complex business.
- A great team player able to work collaboratively and with business stakeholders in building support for change and assurance initiatives and practices.
- Ability to form independent and logical opinions related to control/risk.
- A passion for Business Assurance and the contribution it can make to driving business outcomes.
- A self-starter who is curious, committed, and driven to challenge their own and other’s thinking.
- Strong communicator with an ability to translate insights through concise and clear reporting.
