**The Technical SME (Subject Matter Expert)** will work to deliver fit-for-purpose integration testing, solution implementations and detailed as-built documents.

This would include but is not limited to working within a multidisciplinary team of systems and business analysts, architects, project managers, vendor resources, and business stakeholders.

The Technical SME is expected to work closely with the project team analysts, BAU team, technical IT architects, testing team, and relevant competency centres, and derive detailed documentation to support activities enabling the migration of interfaces to the new enterprise integration platform, and decommissioning said interfaces from the legacy system, ensuring a smooth transition.

The legacy system is built on
**Linux** and utilises most of the intrinsic system utilities in conjunction with C programs to achieve its high-performance in converting, switching, translating, transforming, and routing of many data and file types. Hence, detailed knowledge of and expertise in the
**Linux operating system, its standard libraries, technology stack, transmission stack, utilities and C language are mandatory to succeed in this role.**

The target system is built on
**Red Hat Linux** and its associated technologies (e.g., OpenShift).

**Examples of expected deliverables**:

- Detailed documentation of pattern designs and treatment plans, to either migrate or decommission software interfaces, via inputs from various sources, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, ensuring that the detailed designs are aligned with approved patterns. This artefact includes but not limited to the following components:

- Workbooks (checklists) for migrating and decommissioning interfaces.
- Analysis of integrations with other systems that form part of the legacy system.
- Current network configuration documentation.
- Identify risks, issues, and dependencies, and work with the respective IT architects and project manager.
- Develop and assist with deployment considerations.
- Technology options and position papers. These artefacts include, but not limited to the following components:

- Analysis and documentation of technology problems manifest or emerging.
- Consultation with relevant IT architects and analysts to derive new patterns.
- Review of design and vendor solution documents and provision of feedback.
- Resolution of feedback via a consultative approach.
- Alignment with artefacts developed by IT Architecture practise and the Program deliverable standards.

**Full Requirements - Responsibilities**

**The Technical SME will be responsible for**:

- Work closely with systems analysts to analyse the non-software related workings of the legacy system.
- Develop artefacts which assist the build and test capabilities to develop and test the intended solution.
- Document technical aspects of data, and information flows
- Assist in the overall migration design implementation of the solution patterns in existence or being developed.
- Discover and document the physical aspects of the legacy system.
- Discover and document the connections to systems the legacy systems connect to.
- Collaborate with relevant IT teams and developers to collaborate on replacement systems.
- Support and validate testing regimes
- Complete other ad-hoc activities as requested and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proactively identify dependencies, risks, and issues for the project, aligned to the Program RAID framework and standards.

**Knowledge and Skills Required Mandatory**
- **Experience in C language.**:

- Scripting with bash, awk, Perl.
- **System administration experience (Unix/Linux, Windows, remote management, orchestration).**:

- Experience in writing technical IT architecture documentation (e.g., high-level, and detailed-level designs).
- Network technologies (TCP/IP, WAN, LAN, firewalls).
- Ability to guide build engineers about any fault finding required.
- Experience working across multiple work packages at once, managing the expectations of multiple project managers, dealing with competing priorities.
- Previous experience working across divergent stakeholder groups including Information Communication Technology (ICT) operations and technical teams.
- High level (advanced and above) written and oral communication skills and excellent organisational skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving capabilities with a focus on simplification.
- Demonstrated approach which is pragmatic, flexible, self-aware, and results driven.
- Experience working on large scale Government transformation programs with multiple vendors.
- Previous exposure to ITIL and IT Service Management.

**Desirable**

Cloud technologies (AWS / Azure).

UNIX/Linux system deployment within a secure infrastructure.

Experience working with Linux servers.

Knowledge of databases (SQL, PostgreSQL); more so understanding the infrastructure to suppor
