**About the team**
As the way we shop continues to evolve, our **Digital team** keeps us at the cutting edge. Driven by our innovative, inclusive, and forward-thinking culture, we’re constantly looking at ways to reinvent the shopping experience for our customers and build the next generation of digital retailing.
The Data team within the broader Coles Technology team focuses on building data collection and analytics capabilities to uncover customer, products, and operational insights, providing data driven support to our users, and enabling Coles to be a data driven organisation.
**Key responsibilities**
We are embarking on engineering and design of key data initiatives, building them using market leading cloud technologies, including Snowflake, Azure DevOps, Azure Data factory and Databricks.
The **Technical Lead **will design engineering solutions and ensures all parts of the technical design are correctly incorporated to provide technical support and technical quality control throughout all stages of the project.
You will mentor and guide teams towards achieving great outcomes and maturing their capabilities, as well as overseeing all aspects of project deliverables including architecture and design to ensure all parts technical design are strategically aligned.
In addition, you will gather technical requirements and provide effort estimates and delivery timelines, as well as develop and deliver projects within the agreed timeframes and budgets. The role will also provide weekly status reports to the management and other stakeholders.
**Good things you'll need**:
- Experience in developing, implementing, and managing cloud-based solutions.
- Proven delivery track record of leading data solutions within cloud-based environment
- Good knowledge of metadata management, data modelling, and experience in standard data modelling tools.
- Deep understanding of data warehousing architectures and software engineering principles
- Experience in on-prem databases such as Oracle, SQL, and Cloud databases such as Snowflake
- Expertise in at least one programming language such as Python, Scala, or Java
- Previous experience of leading small to medium sized teams.
- Hands-on experience in Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps and Databricks
- Good understanding of retail domain
