ASIS is Australia’s overseas secret intelligence collection agency. Its mission is to protect and promote
Australia’s vital interests through the provision of intelligence services as directed by the Australian
Government. Its work can involve collecting intelligence relating to national security, international relations
and economic issues. It also contributes to Australia’s coordinated national efforts against terrorism,
proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and trans-national issues such as people smuggling.

This role is office based in Canberra.

**THE OPPORTUNITY**

The Security Advisor position is part of a busy team responsible for undertaking security clearance
maintenance activities. You will exercise discretion and sound judgement in providing security advice to
stakeholders based on legislation and policy. Security-related experience is not required - ideal
communication skills and the ability to multi-task.

You will be required to organise workflow and make sound decisions relating to the development and
delivery of the security capability. The role involves speaking to internal stakeholders, and external
to operate under limited supervision and work well as part of a team.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS**

Work under limited supervision as part of a team contributing to the development and delivery
of the clearance maintenance capability;
Contribute to compliance, including risk management and mitigation;

Provide professional advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders on
security risk mitigation which aligns with best practice, policy and legislation;
Develop plans and objectives to support best practice workflows within the team;
Contribute to reporting for key internal and external stakeholders.
