**About the branch**
Workforce Capability and Assurance provides a key enabling function, supporting the development of agency capability and providing the agency with the assurance that it continues to meet its legislative obligations. The branch is responsible for the delivery of all human resource and people strategies, as well as protecting the agency, its people and its capabilities through an integrated protective security and integrity function. Workforce Capability and Assurance supports employee wellbeing, as well as provides critical support to intelligence operations by oversighting the agency’s use of certain powers, ensuring legislative compliance and contributing to operational outcomes.

**About the role**
Security Advisors plays a key role in the Security & integrity team, responsible for providing the strategic and operational protective security support and advice to the ACIC’s Executive and other employees in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Framework (PSPF). They will liaise, engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on protective security policies, guidelines and procedures as well as assisting with or contributing to the monitoring and management of protective security matters impacting the ACIC.

The roles are key in ensuring a robust security culture in the ACIC, including supporting the Director Security & Integrity with the development, implementation, education and management of protective security policies and procedures. Security Advisors may be responsible for PERSEC, PHYSEC and/or GOVSEC within the Security & Integrity Team. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders are key skills required in this position. Additionally, the identification, development and implementation of innovative risk based approaches to protective security management processes is an important focus. The positions requires its occupant to demonstrate the highest levels of integrity, professionalism and impartiality in carrying out their duties.

The position may require interstate travel and on-call arrangements outside normal business hours.
- Has experience in the provision of protective security practices, preferably in a government or law enforcement context.
- Has experience in and an understanding of the implementation of risk management principles.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the applicable legislative and policy frameworks, including the Protective Security Policy Framework and the Information Security Manual.
- Possess interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise and effectively engage with colleagues, senior managers and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
- Will have the ability to consider and effectively manage competing priorities and to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Contributes to a collegiate approach within the team that promotes a culture of flexibility and improvement
- Positively influences the ACIC’s security culture and prepares and delivers security awareness training across the agency.
- Is able to identify and manage security incidents including the analysis and investigation as required and monitor and assess the internal and external threat environment specific to the ACIC.
- Assists with the development of various security risk assessments, including identifying security risks and coordinating the implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
