**About the role**

The NSW Energy Security Safeguard (Safeguard) supports NSW’s transition to a clean, reliable and affordable energy system. It forms part of the NSW Electricity Strategy, Net Zero Plan and Hydrogen Strategy.

We intend to create a talent pool to fill a range of other roles across a range of policy and program functions within the Safeguard area which include:

- The Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) which reduces electricity costs in NSW by providing incentives for energy saving activities. Your role will help ensure these incentives are effectively targeted at the most effective opportunities as the scheme grows and transforms markets.
- The Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) which improves the reliability and resilience of the NSW energy system by providing incentives for activities that reduce peak demand. Your role will support developing new potential activities for the scheme including batteries, electric vehicle chargers and other household appliances that can be managed through virtual power plants. These systems can reduce peak demand to replace the reliability currently provided by coal-fired power generators.
- Experience of working with government certificate schemes.
- An understanding of the electricity market and challenges to electricity reliability.
- Understanding of technology and services related to energy efficiency, demand shifting, and demand response.
- Analytical skills and competence in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to read and interpret scheme rules.
- Demonstrated skills in stakeholder or client relationship management.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.

**About the team**

All three teams work collaboratively, and you’ll get opportunities to work across different functions and gain exposure to a range of policy and program initiatives.

**Responsibilities**
- Commission and manage research and modelling projects to better understand different technology and services markets.
- Manage relationships with industry key stakeholders such as product manufacturers, accredited certificate providers, installation companies, energy retailers, peak bodies, and regulators.
- Support public briefings and manage consultation processes on major scheme developments.
- Support scheme reviews and program evaluations.
- Analyse scheme data to identify risk and opportunities.
