As the Head of Lighting, you will review and improve the effectiveness of the team by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivational work environment, and creating innovative approaches to improvement.

You will:

- Work closely with Directors, Production Managers, team Leads and artists to ensure content is lit and composited as expected and to a high standard.
- Maintain a constant upskilling of the team by upgrading tools and procedures.
- Lower the number of crew members per show by atomizing the lighting process across all productions.
- Pushing the development of new pipelines and software to ensure the studio is always ahead of all technological advances in the industry.
- Establish training programs for junior artists.
- Define potential roles needed within the lighting department.
- Implement changes as directed and in accordance with the production schedule.
- Work with the production team and other leads to define workflows.
- Where necessary, you will learn additional skills required to aid in production and assist others as required.
- Mentor other lighters and compositors in technical procedures and workflows.
- Report to the Supervisors and Tools department regarding the technical needs across the different departments.
- Define and create lighting and compositing show templates.
- Attend reviews with the Supervisor/Directors.
- Define the lighting and compositing strategy for the sequence.
- Oversee the daily activities and capabilities of the
lighting and compositing team.
- Partner with management to guide artists’ overall professional development, providing performance feedback, mentoring, assist with resolving performance issues and maintaining positive morale amongst the crew.
- Foster and enable cross departmental communication and collaborative environment.
- Work with production team to identify appropriate staffing levels and needs.
- Foster a healthy and creative work environment.
- Gain a strong knowledge of colour and colour management.
- Have a strong understanding of cameras and lenses.
- Have experience in scripting.
- You will ensure all work follows studio policies and guidelines.
