**The Role**
The Contract Management Officer will manage the day-to-day performance of a range of contracts for service delivery to a large number of Department of Defence customers. They will work with service providers to communicate and ensure an understanding of the customer requirements.
Under limited direction, they will be accountable to perform and achieve complex, contract management work within an integrated workforce. The individual will be expected to maintain a well-developed understanding of, and compliance to relevant Commonwealth legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
The Contract Management Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice within the contract management function based on legislation, policy and procedures. The individual will also undertake specialist research and analysis conduct reviews and perform procedural and clerical support work to achieve results
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. **About our Team**
The Maritime Cross Platform Systems Program Office (MCPSPO) within Maritime Systems Division is the lead agency for delivery of cross-Class sustainment services and advice across the maritime environment. MCPSPO sustains and manages a range of complex military systems and supplies, through an extensive network of industry partners, domestic and offshore.
Our operating environment is complex and challenging, and requires exceptional contract and relationship management skills. MCPSPO is comprised of three functions, Commercial, Sustainment and Engineering cells. The teams work in a complex, fast-paced environment as part of a diverse and inclusive Branch environment that encompasses a variety of knowledge, skills and experience within a supportive hierarchy.

- An excellent level of stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex issues to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders needs and expectations to achieve work, unit and Defence outcomes;
- Contract management knowledge, assurance and expertise as a means to provide excellent service and to uphold our strong relationship with our customers;
- Ability to monitor and manage contract administration, performance and risks against the contract and contribute to implementing appropriate action;
- Sound knowledge of and compliance with Commonwealth legislative frameworks, government decision making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements
- Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn and understand the sustainment environment, Navy Seaworthiness and the Integrated Logistics Systems (ILS) approach within the SPO;
- Ability to work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work;
- Skills and experience in MS Office Suite;
- Excellent interpersonal skills; and
- The willingness to learn and the ability to work in a team environment.
