The role
The Trade Compliance Specialist is a member of the Commercial team and is responsible for providing expert guidance to projects and the business on trade control matters, compliance and regulations.
The incumbent would be expected to be an active member of the Commercial team and contribute to the achievement of the role of the Commercial Group within Saab.
- Ensure the company complies with all applicable export and import control legislation and regulations, predominantly those of Australia and the US
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of standardised company and project specific policies, procedures and tools to ensure compliance with local and global export and import control regulations, and bring about associated organisational change
- Develop and deliver export and import control awareness and compliance training
- Liaise with relevant contacts and regulatory bodies, including Defence Export Controls, regarding export and import control matters for timely submission that support the company’s projects and products.
- Be a representative on various trade compliance working groups and forums - both internally and externally
- Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role._
About you
- Your skills and experience will include:_
- Proven experience in Australian and global trade laws and regulations - including US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
- Experience in supply chain and Australian Customs procedures.
- Effective influencing skills working with managers and supervisors.
- Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant discipline - eg Law, Commerce (desirable)
- Working knowledge of the Australian Defence Industry contracting and procurement processes. (desirable)
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
