Principal Regulatory Officer

**Responsibilities**:
- Implement the Water Supply Regulation compliance framework, compliance strategy and compliance plan, including mentoring, coaching and training other Water Supply Regulation team members in compliance monitoring.
- Undertake regulatory activities, including supporting the resolution of complex regulatory matters in collaboration with Water Supply Regulation Team Members, monitor service provider's compliance with legislative requirements, and ensure a consistent approach to the compliance escalation strategy as a result of identified non-compliance.
- Engage with the Water Supply Regulation Team to embed documented work processes and ensure ongoing compliance to the Strategy and Plan.
- Manage projects and work collaboratively within a small team to support officers in service delivery and efficiency and support the development of operational policies, plans and reports.
- Critically analyse reports, data and other information to formulate advice that supports regulatory activities.
- Provide high level advice and options on policy issues relating to Water Supply Regulation in accordance with legislation (Water Supply and Supply Act 2008 and Water Act 2000).
- Prepare high quality correspondence and briefs on matters of compliance to the Manager, Director, Executive Director, Legal and other stakeholders.
- Conduct research and liaise with the Strategic Compliance Team, lawyers, policy and operations to prepare timely recommendations, reports, briefings, correspondence and other material which supports regulation.
- Undertake research, analysis and interpretation of issues and trends to identify strategic opportunities for improvement of compliance processes and tools.
- Provide direction, guidance and leadership to others to ensure Water Supply Regulation compliance goals and business objectives are achieved.
- Use your excellent communication and negotiation skills to successfully achieve desired results when dealing with other DRDMW business units.

**Role Requirements**:
- No mandatory requirements, but experience in regulation and compliance would be highly regarded.
- Completion of Cert IV in Government Investigations and/or compliance.
- Completion of Cert IV in training and assessment.
