**A little bit about us**

The Communications Service and Consumer Division focuses on policy, regulation and programs to support the provision of telecommunications infrastructure and services to provide positive consumer and business outcomes.

The Regional Mobile Infrastructure Programs Branch provides strategic policy advice and delivers programs that support the delivery of mobile communications services to peri-urban, regional and remote communities across Australia. We help communities stay connected by supporting the rollout of new or improved mobile coverage and improving the resilience of mobile networks to prevent outages during and support recovery after a Natural Disaster.

A key focus for us is on delivering new and expanded programs, including the Mobile Black Spot (MBSP), Peri Urban Mobile (PUMP) and Mobile Network Hardening (MNHP) Programs, and development of policy approaches and program solutions to increase mobile coverage on regional highways and roads.

The Branch is a dynamic, collaborative, strategic and supportive team, with an emphasis on delivering policy solutions and programs, and providing informed advice to Ministers and the Executive. 2024 is a busy year for the Branch, with a focus on developing new approaches to expanding mobile coverage in regional and remote Australia. This includes:

- Reviewing the current policy and future design of the Government’s regional mobile programs;
- Piloting new program delivery models to improve mobile coverage on regional and remote roads with the state and territory governments and developing a new national program (Regional Roads Australia Mobile Program);
- Reviewing outcomes of Round 2 of the MNHP, and designing and delivering Round 3;
- Running the approach to market for Round 2 of the PUMP;
- Developing Round 8 of the MBSP and Round 3 of the PUMP; and
- Administering the contracts with the Mobile Network Operators and/or Mobile Network Infrastructure Providers for the delivery of projects under the mobile programs.

**What you will do**
There are roles across several teams and your role may vary, depending on your skills, experience and interest. Depending on the role, you will work as part of a team to:

- Contribute to the design of programs, including solving complex problems, providing advice on policy solutions and developing grant guidelines;
- Assist with the management of Australian Government assets to support the delivery of communications services;
- Incorporate a continuous improvement approach utilising lessons learned in program and project delivery to improve and achieve outcomes;
- Establish strong working relationships with internal, industry and state and territory stakeholders to deliver programs and actively manage funding agreements, including assessing delivery and reporting, analysing and advising on variations, and progressing milestone payments;
- Contribute to and draft ministerial correspondence, briefing, talking points, QONs and other written material;
- Contribute to and lead a strong and positive culture across the Branch.

**Who are we looking for?**
As an Assistant Director with skills or experience in policy development, program management and/or asset management, you will work effectively to support the design and delivery of programs which support mobile communications services across Australia.
