Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice & Community Safety (the Department). The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC).

Reporting to the Manager Aviation and Logistics, the Lead Officer, Health and Safety will lead and coordinate the OH&S function within the State Control Centre (SCC) and EM sector.

Key accountabilities include:

- Coordinate effective state-level operational health, safety and wellbeing planning for readiness, emergency coordination and response, and support to relief and recovery processes.
- Provide coordinated strategic health and safety advice, including Safety Alerts.
- Lead daily safety briefing reports to the State Response Controller and the State Control Team.
- Ensure mechanisms are in place that support coordination, continuous improvement and capability and capacity building for health, safety and wellbeing across all tiers of the emergency management sector.
- Lead the multi-agency Safety Coordination and Capability Group.

To be successful you will have:

- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice to both peer and executive audiences.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Victoria's emergency management arrangements.
- Previous experience in an Occupational Health and Safety Role.
