**The Opportunity**
The Regulation Directorate sits within the Transport Policy and Regulation Division and is responsible for driving the Government’s regulation and policy initiatives and ensuring appropriate compliance, behaviour and safe access across our transport networks.
The Manager Driver Standards is accountable to the Manager, Driver Licensing Standards for the oversight of the driver training industry, the administration of the _Motor Vehicles Act 1959_ and other aspects of driver testing and licensing in all licence classes managed by the Standards Unit, including:
- Policy development to improve business practices, and service delivery.
- Participating in the development of contemporary training materials.
- Providing expert and politically sound advice, and
- Delivering timely and fact based interpretation of the _Motor Vehicles Act 1959_ and other associated legislation.
**About You**
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the driver training industry, government policy and procedures and administrative law processes and practices.
You are collaborative and bring a customer-focused approach to your work, ensuring a positive experience while adhering to department systems and policies. You are skilled in managing programs with mínimal supervision and are proactive in seeking and providing informed advice on complex matters, and helping your immediate and broader team solve problems that could impact the department.
You can quickly understand and manage complex projects, negotiate with others to get the best outcomes, and write clear reports that follow government guidelines and communicate effectively. You’re skilled at analysing information, giving expert advice both verbally and in writing, and meeting tight deadlines.
You have a strong understanding of the driver training industry and associated fields, including the risks and trends, and broader social and economic factors that may impact your work, equipping you to handle emerging challenges effectively. You communicate clearly and respectfully, and you’re good at resolving conflicts while considering and showing respect for diverse perspectives and viewpoints.

**Requirements**:
The successful applicant will preferably have qualifications in driver training (Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training), (Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or similar) or management.
It is highly desirable that you have extensive experience in one or more of the following: driver training including heavy vehicle training and assessment, training, service delivery, quality assurance and/or management.
**Special Conditions**
- A National Police Check (NPC) which is required to be renewed every three years.
- A Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
A current driver’s license is essential.
**Remuneration**
ASO7 - $108,109 to $116,864 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation
