**Employment Opportunity**

The Commercial and Copyright Law Branch (CCLB) and Courts and Tribunals Branch (CTB) are looking to fill a number of vacancies on an ongoing and non-ongoing basis, from APS level 5 to Executive Level 2. CCLB has responsibility for a broad range of issues, including copyright (domestic policy and law reform, artificial intelligence (AI) and international engagement), private international law, bankruptcy and personal property securities reform, and modernising document processes - including facilitative legislation to enable paperless trade. CTB is responsible for a range of policy matters relating to the federal courts including evidence, legal professional privilege, persona designate and court jurisdiction.

As diverse branches located in Canberra and with remote workers, CCLB and CTB are building a culture that is positive, collaborative and friendly.

Current priorities across the Branches include:

- working with stakeholders through the Governments Copyright and AI Reference Group to consider the intersections between copyright and AI
- developing amendments to the Copyright Act 1968 to facilitate remote learning and unlock the potential of copyright material that has been 'orphaned (that is, a copyright owner cannot be found)
- considering amendments to the Bankruptcy Act 1966, to achieve important social policy objectives such as a fresh start for vulnerable people
- progressing amendments to the Personal Property Securities Act 2009, following the release exposure draft legislation in 2023
- leading AGD engagement with a range of international fora relating to copyright, private international law and electronic commerce
- driving policy development relating to the policies and legislative frameworks governing the federal courts, and
- progressing judicial and other statutory appointments.

**How you can help us make a difference**

Policy and legislative development, which may include legal research and analysis, providing legal and policy expertise, and supporting the passage of any legislative reforms through the Parliament; providing advice to SES and Government about potential policy and legislative solutions; and consultation across government and with private sector stakeholders and the public on a range of proposals.
- Well-developed organisational, written and oral communication skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement capabilities
- Ability to work flexibly in a busy, dynamic team environment
- For executive level positions: Experience managing a team on diverse and fast-moving work
- Experience in policy and legislation development is not a prerequisite but would be highly desirable.
