- The Deputy Secretary is part of the Department’s Executive team and assists the Secretary in supporting and advising the Department’s Ministers and in providing leadership, governance and cultural change across the Department. As one of four Deputy Secretaries, this position is responsible in particular for those functions related to the strategic functions of the Department, including the Office of the Secretary, Agency Communications, Organisational Change, Office of the Chief Information Officer, and Strategic Infrastructure Projects. **About the position**:
As one of four Deputy Secretaries, this position is responsible in particular for those functions related to the strategic functions of the Department, including the Office of the Secretary, Agency Communications, Organisational Change, Office of the Chief Information Officer, and Strategic Infrastructure Projects. The role is also responsible for the delivery of Agencies Wellbeing Hub, Human Resources services and Finance and other outputs as allocated.

The primary duties of the position are to:

- Providing high-level strategic advice to the Minister, Secretary and other Agencies on a range of issues, which have strategic and/or critical impact on both Government policy and the Department’s objectives.
- Representing the Department and acting as advocate for Government and Departmental policy across a wide range of forums in often-sensitive negotiations encompassing issues affecting both Government and the Department.
- Manage issues on behalf of the Department and in consultation with the Ministerial Offices.
- Providing leadership to allocated output managers and ensuring that their leadership and management practices align with corporate direction, values and contemporary management principles.
- Development and implementation of change management strategies, systems and programs to improve service delivery, efficiency, effectiveness and productivity for the Department.
- Provide support, strategic direction and oversight for the Department’s People Strategy and people management.
- Participation as a member of the Department’s Executive team in governing the efficient and effective management of the Department, including contributing to strategic and business planning, communications, marketing and the management and development of staff.
- As a key member of the Department’s senior executive team, undertake an active leadership role in meeting whole-of-agency objectives and provide strategic leadership for the Department’s involvement in major reforms and initiatives.
- Deputising for the Secretary as required.

This is a Senior Executive position, either full time or part time, with an annual salary range of between $200,933 - $231,073 per annum pro-rata, plus 10.5% superannuation and provision of a fully maintained vehicle. Reasonable relocation expenses incurred in taking up the position will be reimbursed.

**Desirable Requirements**:

- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline are considered important for this position, together with considerable leadership and management experience at senior executive level.
