**What you will be doing**:
An exciting opportunity is available for a Midwife to join the team at Blue Mountains Hospital as a Midwifery Unit Manager. The Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM) is in-charge of all aspects of the unit/ward environment and takes responsibility for the standard of patient care in the unit/ward. The MUM is pivotal to the co-ordination of patient care, unit/ward management and leadership to enable the delivery of safe, effective, quality nursing care and efficient use of resources. The NBMLHD Nursing and Midwifery Workforce will provide safe, compassionate, person-centered health care in collaboration with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams.

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is responsible for providing community health and hospital care for people living in the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Lithgow and Penrith Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region.

The Local Health District consists of both urban and semi-rural areas, covering almost 9,179 square kilometres and an estimated resident population of almost 350,000 people. The Dharug, Gundungurra and Wiradjuri people are acknowledged as the traditional Aboriginal owners of the land in our District. Our District's promise is to work with its local community and partners to deliver safe and high-quality health services, which provide value for money and the best health outcomes for the population.

**Selection Criteria to be Addressed**:

- Registered Midwife - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) AND extensive relevant post registration midwifery experience.
- Demonstrated ability to create and support a culture of integrity and professionalism which adheres to legislation and policy.
- Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills and ability to liaise and negotiate with clinicians, managers, staff and other key stakeholders.
- Proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the unit/ward are managed to deliver safe and efficient health care within available resources.
- Excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate, inspire and manage staff to achieve service and organizational goals utilising change management principles.
- Evidence of and commitment to patient/customer focused care, clinical governance and quality improvement.
- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
- Current Driver’s License and ability to travel within the LHD as required.
