As a Clinical Midwifery Specialist (CMS) you will demonstrate leadership and role modelling in the care of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal women seeking care within the Private Healthcare setting.

The CMS is also responsible for the delivery of quality women centered care, developing standards of practice, implementing changes to clinical practice and initiating research and quality improvement activities. You will work as part of the health care team participating in working parties or committees as required and demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement.

Our Women’s Health Unit is a 43 bed post/antenatal/gynaecology ward with 7 birthing suite rooms. Supporting this service is a 7 bed level 2 Special Care Nursery. An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Midwifery Specialist to join our team on a full-time/part time basis. We are looking for an expert Birth Unit midwife, who is committed to excellence, has extensive skills in antenatal and intrapartum care as well as a passion for delivery of woman centred care.

Norwest Private Hospital is in the rapidly developing North West corridor of Sydney and is operated by Healthscope, a leading provider of private healthcare in Australia. The hospital has 277 beds and is a high acuity facility with a high performing Emergency Department located in Sydney’s Bella Vista.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife with a minimum of five years’ relevant post registration qualifications and experience working in the provision of antenatal and post-natal midwifery services.
- Evidence of clinical leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework to plan, deliver and coordinate women and newborn care.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in midwifery practice, the provision of education to others and own professional development.
- Demonstrated effective communication through the use of information technology, written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Demonstrated proactive approach to problem solving
- Knowledge of legislative obligations for Workplace Health and Safety, and the impact on employment and service delivery
