**About the Branch**
The People Branch sits within the department’s People Division and is responsible for strategic and operational focused human resources (HR) advice and support services, to support business areas in meeting their workforce needs.

**About the Team**
The SES Unit provides a consistent and reliable contact point for Senior Executive Service (SES) employees across the department in relation to all human resource related matters. Members of the team hold expertise across the full range of people functions, to support its provision of a seamless and end-to-end service for the SES. The team maintains a high level of professionalism, knowledge, and capability to build and maintain a high level of trust with the SES cohort.

**About the Role**
The Senior HR Advisor - SES Unit plays a key role in the provision of many of the support services that are necessary for the effective functioning of the department’s SES cohort. They will have demonstrated experience operating in and delivering HR functions in a high profile and impactful environment. They will also bring innovation to a team and support the delivery of operational HR functions for the SES cohort.

A Senior HR Advisor in the SES Unit will:

- manage, deliver, and look to continuously improve SES recruitment, on-boarding and off-boarding procedures in line with Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) and departmental guidelines,
- assist with the management of the SES remuneration framework and prepare; recommendations, guidance and analysis to the Executive ensuring informed decisions are made,
- develop and implement improvements to, or reviews of, HR policy and guidance material to support effective management of the SES cohort,
- assist with the management of the department’s SES Cap, including supporting the development of quarterly reports to the APSC, regular reporting to the Executive Board, and supporting the preparation of business cases for alterations to SES numbers,
- prepare complex and/or sensitive correspondence, briefs, and documentation relevant to the SES Units functions, and
- manage relationships with stakeholders across and outside the portfolio, to effectively deliver HR support and advice functions to the SES Unit Executive Team and the SES Cohort.

As an APS 6 HR Advisor within the SES Unit, you will have proven experience working as a team in addition to:

- demonstrated experience in HR policy, recruitment and/or payroll functions,
- demonstrated ability to respond in a positive and flexible manner to changing requirements and fluent deadlines in a high tempo environment, whilst displaying critical traits such as positivity, leadership, and professionalism,
- highly developed written and oral communication skills, including the ability to negotiate with and influence key stakeholders,
- excellent relationship management skills, with both internal team members and stakeholders, as well as external customers and stakeholders,
- a high level of integrity and common sense, discretion, and resilience,
- ability to deliver high quality project outcomes, on time and in line with expectations,
- effective problem solving and critical thinking skills to exercise sound judgment in consideration of immediate requirements for customers and long-term issues,
- ability to quickly gain an understanding of the SES Employment Arrangements, the SES Performance and Development Management Framework, the Public Service Act 1999 and other relevant legislation, policies, and relevant procedures, and
- the ability to understand and use HR systems such as Aurion, SAP, and eRecruit.

This role is not currently offered in a remote capacity, however flexible working can be negotiated and is located at premises at John Gorton Building, Parkes ACT 2600.
