The Security and Emergency Management Division supports Schools and Regional Services essential role to make it easier for children, families, schools, and service providers to access responsive and high quality support and services. The Division’s vision is one of education communities that are physically and psychologically safe. The Security and Emergency Management Division delivers this vision by managing risks and incidents that may impact the health and wellbeing of children and young people, or that may impact school operations or educational services delivery.
**Incident Response Officer**
The Security and Emergency Management Division supports Schools and Regional Services essential role to make it easier for children, families, schools, and service providers to access responsive and high quality support and services. The Division's vision is one of education communities that are physically and psychologically safe.
The division units are responsible for developing and implementing security, emergency and incident management policies and resources for all Department of Education and Training sites, staff and education communities. Specifically, within the Security Business Unit there is the critical provision of alarm monitoring, installation, maintenance and response services to minimise the loss or damage of school equipment and infrastructure.
The primary role of the Security Unit is to install, maintain, monitor alarm and CCTV systems, as well as respond to security related issues at the Department's schools and other premises. The role will:
- liaise with police, security service providers and school leaders over alarm activations
- liaise and provide support with alarm system technicians working on sites
- liaise with other emergency services in relation to emergencies at schools
- interpret alarm activations and exercise judgement in dispatching security service providers and/or police
Incident Response Officers will also receive and process incident reports from school leaders in a timely, efficient and empathetic manner. The incident details will be recorded in the Department's database and communicated to schools, regional and corporate personnel.
The role is in a casual capacity and will be required to work shift work in the 24/7 control room.
