THE POSITION:
Our Client who is based in the Western suburbs of Melbourne are seeking multiple experienced Obs & Gyn Registrars for their rapidly growing team for a February 2024 start.

The role of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrar is to develop, consolidate and enhance clinical skills in the provision of high-quality patient care and develop collaborative relationships with medical, surgical, anaesthetic, paediatric and psychiatric colleagues, and senior staff as well as nursing and other support staff.

THE HOSPITAL:
The Hospital is a general hospital providing comprehensive care within the southwest region of Melbourne.

The hospital’s services include surgical, medical, maternity, newborn, renal dialysis, emergency, mental health, rehabilitation, aged and palliative care. The hospital has recently gone through a significant expansion with the opening of their new Intensive Care Unit, additional operating theatres, and the opening of two new wards, taking the total number of beds to 298. They see approximately 48,000 patients per year with a 5% growth rate.

This hospital prides itself on providing a great team culture, they have an active fellowship teaching and exam preparation program and there is plenty of scope for teaching junior Doctors and medical students alike.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACTIVITIES, AND DUTIES:

- Practice in accordance with hospital and relevant Government Health policies and procedures, the position description, Code of Conduct and industrial agreements.
- Work in accordance with the vision of the hospital and actively participate in developing a culture that promotes their values of healing, hospitality, and respect.
- Participate in meetings and education sessions.
- Assist in the supervision of interns and residents and engage in opportunities for the extension of their clinical knowledge and skills.
- Maintain effective communication with patients and the relatives, hospital staff, medical colleagues, and General Practitioners.
- Participate in scheduled meetings.
- Maintain close liaison with Consultants regarding patient conditions.
- Ensure effective handover of patients requiring on-going care and monitoring at the end of each shift.
- Maintain medical records in accordance with hospital policy.
- Ensure completion of discharge summaries by themselves and departmental registrars and junior medical officers.
- Work within personal levels of expertise and seek assistance as required.
- Flexibility in performing duties in response to operational needs of the department.

CONTINUED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

- Participates in the performance evaluation process annually.
- Ensures mandatory competencies are obtained on an annual basis.
- Regular attendance and participation in service education sessions.
- Co-operate with and be prepared to participate in educational activities and

programs
- Demonstrates responsibility for taking allocated professional development study leave days annually.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

- COVID-19 vaccination is a mandatory requirement.
- Registrable as a medical practitioner with AHPRA.
- Previous experience as Obstetrics and Gynaecology registrar is mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work within personal level of expertise and seek assistance as needed from senior staff.
- Ability to assist interns and residents to extend their clinical skills and knowledge.
- High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

THE LOCATION:
This hospital is located between in the Western suburbs of Melbourne.

A major development of the area is underway and will see the commercial precinct extend down to the local River with public squares and a riverbank promenade overlooking parks which will become the green heart of the city. A large undercover shopping mall is located within 3 kilometers away for all your needs.

This location is home to several sporting facilities, there are picnic areas located under towering gum trees, shady paths, and a large lagoon at the bend in the river with a canoe launching deck and it is the site of a diversion weir which was constructed to irrigate the South market gardens.
