We are hiring for a Lead Analyst x2. We have two positions available.

About the team:
The Financial Stability Department advises the Governors and Board on risks to the stability of the financial system and produces the biannual Financial Stability Review (FSR). The Australian Financial System section (AFS) assesses the resilience of the financial system by monitoring and stress testing financial institutions and, in crisis periods, works closely with others across the Bank and other public sector agencies to address risks to the financial system. AFS is comprised of three teams which respectively focus on banks, non-bank financial institutions, and crisis management and resolution.

Role Objectives:
As a Lead Analyst, you will play a key role in one of the three teams in AFS. You will work closely with the manager to shape the team’s work program, steer and sign-off the team’s work, and coach junior staff. Working in AFS offers an opportunity to develop an understanding of how banks and other financial institutions work and how they are regulated. You will frequently engage with other parts of the Reserve Bank and other agencies on policy.

The typical aspects of AFS’ work include:
- Identifying and assessing existing and emerging vulnerabilities in the financial system.- Developing policy considerations and analyses in relation to the resilience of financial institutions.- Preparing briefing materials and analysis for the Reserve Bank’s senior executives.- Understanding the links between different parts of the financial system.

What are we looking for:
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.- High standard for work output & organisation.- Strong interpersonal/oral communication skills.- An aptitude for handling data and an interest in developing leadership skills will be valued.- Knowledge of how financial institutions operate and prudential regulations is desirable, but is not a prerequisite to be successful in the role.
