**A little bit about us**
- The National Classification Scheme is a joint scheme between the Australian Government and the states and territories. Under the National Classification Scheme, films, computer games and certain publications must be classified before they are made available in Australia. The Australian Government has enacted the
- _Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Act 1995 _(the Act) and each state and territory have enacted enforcement legislation to complement the Act.
- The Board makes classification decisions and provides advice about the content of films, computer games and certain publications. This helps Australians make informed choices about what they (or those in their care) watch, play and read. When making decisions, the Board applies the Act, the National Classification Code, and Classification Guidelines for films, computer games and publications. The Board also provides classification services to other agencies, including Australian Border Force, the eSafety Commissioner and law enforcement.
- The Board receives administrative and operational support from staff in the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (the Department) but is independent from Government. The Classification Branch provides advice to the Minister for Communications on classification matters.
- The Branch also provides secretariat services to the Board and the Classification Review Board, promotes compliance and provides classification training for both boards, industry and government. We work with varied stakeholders including industry (including video gaming, cinema and streaming video on demand), the states and territories (who are joint partners in the National Classification Scheme), the Board and Classification Review Board, and community groups.

**The opportunity we have available**
- We are seeking a talented person to provide direct support to the Director and Deputy Director of the Board in organising the work of the Board to meet statutory deadlines and maintain quality standards. The position is a Departmental position in the Classification Branch reporting to the Assistant Secretary of the Classification Branch and involves supporting the Director and Deputy Director of the Board in its day to day operations.

**What will you do?**- Assist the Deputy Director to prepare and distribute the daily program for the BoardAssist in the preparation of Board correspondence and the Board’s Annual Report, the onboarding of new Board members and the co-ordination of responses to Departmental requests about Board activities-
