We are looking for compassionate, spiritual and professional persons to respond effectively to the diverse emotional, spiritual and religious needs of our patients, and their families.

x1 Permanent Full-Time role
x1 Fixed-Term (8 months) Part-Time (16 hours per week)
7 day per week roster (weekend and public holidays included)

**Salary Classification**: Counsellor Level 1 Year 2 -2 Year 4.

**Remuneration**: $37.06-$51.04 per hour excluding any applicable loadings, allowances and superannuation.

About the role

The Pastoral Care Associate will contribute to the provision of high-quality pastoral care for patients and their families. The Pastoral Care Associate will work alongside the Pastoral Care Team, visiting clergy and staff to ensure that the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and their families are met.

Key Responsibilities

Enact best practice in critical areas such as spiritual care, emotional support, grief and loss.
Provide compassionate, sensitive and skilled pastoral care, in times of crisis, transition and at the end of life.
Ensure accurate documentation for all interventions in accordance with professional standards and departmental policy.

What you bring

Experience in hospital based Pastoral Care.
Must have capacity to work on a 7 day roster. (weekend/ public holiday).
Capacity to provide compassionate pastoral care in a diverse cultural and faith environment.
Demonstrated communication, and interpersonal skills in crisis situations and ongoing pastoral relationships.
Bachelor's degree with qualifications in Spirituality/Theology/Pastoral Care and/or willingness to undertake same.
Evidence of supervised training in providing spiritual care, the equivalent of one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.

The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement.
