**About the team**

This position is within the Australian Research Council (ARC) funded Discovery Project (DP230101849), “Reducing geotechnical design conservatism to secure floating wind energy” based at the Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre (IOMRC) at UWA.

The position will be part of the Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems (COFS), within the Oceans Graduate School (OGS). COFS, established in 1997 as an ARC Special Research Centre, is a world-leading research centre in offshore geotechnics, at the forefront of research in offshore renewables. The OGS is home to a critical mass of researchers spanning ocean engineering, oceanography and marine science. In addition to COFS, the OGS hosts the Wave Energy Research Centre, the ARC Research Hub for Transforming energy Infrastructure through Digital Engineering and Woodside’s FutureLab collaboration network. OGS researchers conduct world-leading research to provide ocean solutions in relation to the marine environment and resources, engineering and technology.

**About the opportunity**

To work with the Chief Investigators and Partner Investigator (at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), Oslo) to undertake the geotechnical research defined in the ARC Discovery Project.

**About you**

You are an enthusiastic geotechnical engineer ready to join a dynamic and collaborative geotechnical research group to tackle problems facing the offshore wind energy industry.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

- A PhD or equivalent industry experience in geotechnical engineering or a closely related field
- Relevant research experience (or equivalent experience in engineering practice) and expertise at an appropriate level in geotechnical engineering
- Expertise in either geotechnical centrifuge modelling, field testing or numerical development
- Strong computational skills with the ability to organise and process large data sets
- A demonstrable track record of research publication relative to opportunity
- Ability and willingness to direct and supervise higher degree by research students
- Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively as part of a team
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and conduct research
- Demonstrated commitment to service roles in the workplace
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and diversity
