**About the team**

The School of Earth Sciences is a group of internationally recognised educators and researchers who are excited by the diverse and complex ancient geological and modern environments of Earth and other planets in our solar system. Western Australia has a geological record of ancient processes and environments over the last 4.5 billion years including the record of early life evolution and major mineral, petroleum and groundwater resources. Our coastline is a natural laboratory to resolve important questions related to complex coastal systems including carbonate reefs, and the record of recent climate change in these systems.

**About the opportunity**

You will join a collaborative team of researchers on an ARC Linkage project focused on understanding the effect of geologic barriers on groundwater flow and solute transport. You will contribute to the design of a field sampling program, and work independently to perform data analysis including conceptual model development and numerical analysis with a focus on assimilating geologic, geophysical and hydrochemical data.

**To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate**:

- A PhD in hydrogeology or a closely related field
- Ability to design and conduct hydrogeological studies
- Ability to publish in high impact scientific journals
- Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders, including collaborators in the project and scientific peers
- Ability to meet deadlines, work within budgets and report according to specifications
- Ability to work independently, show initiative, problem solve and work productively as part of a team
- Experience in combining and evaluating diverse data sets including geophysics, geochemical and hydrogeological data in the development of Hydrogeological conceptual and/or numerical models is desirable
