**About the Role**

Our client is now seeking a
**Recreation Activities Officer** who will make a huge difference for residents by providing leisure and lifestyle activities.

This role will help support residents to stay connected to their community, their hobbies, and their interests. You will be involved in the development of team activity planning, get to know residents as individual people while building lifestyle programs to suit their interests.

**Duties**:

- Help put together the activity planner. Check information about resident needs and interests, research activities and events, to create activities.
- Communicate and share the activity planner with residents and staff in advance. Report issues or concerns to the Facility Manager.
- Deliver the leisure program. Check the activity plan, the resident care plan, create promotional materials, confirm needed staff are available to help, help with snacks and meals, run safety checks to make sure residents return from trips.
- Help improve the leisure program. Look for ideas for activities and events, connect with community partners and organisations.
- Record the delivery of the program, record individual and groups activities carried out, issues or concerns with activities. Report issues and concerns to the Facility Manager.
- Help with care planning and review. Attend case conferences as needed, keep records up to date, and share feedback, ideas, and information.
- Participate in communication activities
- Report incidents, near misses, and possible serious incidents as close as possible to the time they occur, and no later than the end of the shift. Check people are safe, check if people need help or first aid, refer to RN if first aid or an ambulance is needed, record what’s happened, and report to the RN or the next most senior person on duty or on call.
- Welcome new members to the team. Help new employees learn the job

**Skills and Experience**:

- Experience in providing care and supports to older people or people with a disability.
- Basic understanding of the aged care regulatory environment including the Aged Care Quality Standards, Charter of Aged Care Rights, Aged Care Complaints Scheme, and the Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS).
- Must have a Current Police Check
- Certificate III or IV in Aged Care assisting clients with medication (Essential)
- Certificate III Leisure Health (CHC40608) or Certificate IV Leisure and Health (CHC50508) or equivalent (Desirable)
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
- Great customer service.
- Passionate, nurturing & emphatic
- Creative - have an ability to think out of the box
- Amenable to work 40hours/week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday)
