Busy at Work, the Apprenticeship Community is a national collective of Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) providers, with over 40 years of experience in connecting employers and apprentices. We offer advice and tailored support for apprentices, trainees, and businesses to support successful careers and skilled, productive workplaces.

What Awaits You

As our Mentor Officer will you provide mentoring, support and guidance to apprentices and trainees to complete their apprenticeship or traineeship, ensuring their success and fostering retention and completions.

You will be offering mentoring services at various stages of the apprenticeship journey, including mentorship, pastoral care, facilitating peer-to-peer mentoring, providing referral information and guidance, and engaging with regulatory bodies and mediation when necessary.

In your day-to-day tasks, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Meet with allocated apprentices and trainees to understand their barriers or issues
Create a Apprentice Management Plans (AMPs) for each mentored apprentice and update accordingly
Liaise with other stakeholders, including employers and parents, to get their input on the AMP
Identify and assess risk factors to determine apprentices requiring support
Where required, host meetings or mediation with employers and apprentices to achieve positive outcomes where differences arise
Liaise with specialised organisations to ensure complex issues/needs are appropriately addressed
Build relationships and undertake activity with stakeholders such as schools, GTOs, RTOs, job search providers
Undertake a range of administrative duties associated with the position including reports and mentoring activity

Essential Skills for Success

Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Committed to client service and ethical conduct in accordance with the AA contractual requirements
Proficient in negotiation, mediation, and problem-solving
Dedicated to community development and achieving employment outcomes

Value-Added Experience

Extensive experience in mentoring or coaching role
Background in social or behavioral sciences, youth work, or community-based discipline
Proficiency in leading, motivating, and communicating with diverse individuals
Strong commitment to community development principles
Proven ability to plan, develop, and manage mentoring programs
Skilled in negotiation, mediation, and problem-solving
Excellent oral and written communication abilities, including presentation and report writing
Knowledgeable about local labor market conditions and opportunities
