**About this opportunity**:
The Lifeguard is responsible for supervising the safety of patrons in the pool area as well as identifying and responding to potential risks and taking appropriate action to reduce those risks.

Lifeguarding duties, include:

- Water Safety: With your eagle-eyed vigilance and lightning-fast reflexes, you'll be the guardian angel of our swimmers. When they need help or face any challenges, you'll be there to lend a helping hand, ready to swoop in and save the day
- Water Watchdog: You'll be the captain of the waters, ensuring that all pool rules are followed diligently. No running, no diving in shallow water—your keen eye will enforce the rules and maintain a safe aquatic environment and an enjoyable experience for all visitors.
- First Aid Ace: Be the go-to person for minor mishaps and boo-boos. From handing out band-aids with a flourish to administering gentle comfort, your first aid skills will keep our guests happy and healthy.
- Customer Service Champion: As the friendly face of our swimming pool paradise, you'll provide top-notch customer service. Answer questions, offer poolside recommendations, and make every swimmer feel like a VIP.
- Facility Maintenance: As part of the team, you'll help maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the facility, including setting up and taking down equipment when required.
- Teamwork: Being part of a team is crucial in this role. You'll collaborate with other lifeguards and staff members to deliver outstanding service and ensure a smooth operation.

**What will you bring**:
By joining our team, you will bring the following/ideally you will have:

- Lifeguard qualification: Possess a valid lifeguard certification, including CPR and First Aid training. Safety is paramount, and you'll be our shield against aquatic emergencies.
- Sunny Disposition: Bring the sunshine with you We want someone who radiates positivity, making every poolside moment a memorable one.
- Rescue Ready: Be prepared for action at a moment's notice. Your lifeguard training will equip you with the skills to handle any waterborne challenges.
- Qualities: you are self-driven, resourceful, and able to take charge of their work with mínimal guidance.

**Pool Season**:
18 November 2023 - 11 March 2024

Murrindindi Shire is situated on Melbourne's peri-urban fringe and encompasses the charming rural townships of Alexandra, Eildon, Kinglake, Marysville and Yea. The Shire benefits from great natural beauty and tourist attractions such as Lake Eildon, picturesque national parks, the Great Victorian Rail Trail and access to Victoria's snowfields. We are located within proximity to Melbourne, a lovely 60 to 90 minute drive from Melbourne, depending on your route.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with Murrindindi Shire Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

It is also a condition of employment that the successful applicant:

- Provides evidence of eligibility to work in Australia
- Provides evidence of an applicable COVID-19 vaccination (as per Government requirements or Murrindindi Shire Council policies). Alternatively, you will require either a valid medical exemption or an exemption under Council’s COVID-19 Safe Workplace and Vaccination Policy. A copy of the policy is available on request.
- Undertakes a Police Check and, where applicable to the role, provides a current Working with Children Check
- Is able to travel to different work sites within the Murrindindi Shire, such as providing evidence of a current Victorian Driver’s licence
