**The Opportunity**
Cabinet Division is seeking advisers for a number of positions across the division (Cabinet Secretariat, National Security and Cabinet Systems, and Governance, Communications and First Nations Submissions Branches). We operate in a dynamic environment at the heart of government, providing a range of functions to ensure the smooth functioning of the Cabinet and its Committees and the Federal Executive Council.
Submissions
- Supporting departments to develop high quality Cabinet Submissions and other matters for Cabinet consideration.
- Liaising with other departments, PM&C policy areas and the Cabinet Secretary’s Office on the Cabinet forward agenda and government priorities.
- Providing advice on a range of Cabinet arrangements and processes.
- Contributing to and preparing strategic advice for Cabinet and preparing planning documents for the Cabinet Secretary’s Office and the Prime Minister’s Office.
- Supporting the successful delivery of Cabinet and Cabinet Committee though active engagement across the division and the Cabinet Secretary’s Office.
Operations
- Managing the distribution of Cabinet documents through the CabNet+ system as a Cabinet Liaison Officer.
- Supporting the department’s executive support teams and policy teams to understand Cabinet meeting arrangements and processes.
- Coordinating the production of Cabinet Minutes with other areas of the department and the Cabinet Secretary’s office.
- Undertaking records management duties including file creation, searches, distribution of files and archiving.
- Assist with requests for access to Cabinet records including document identification, preparation of documents for release and database management.
- Working onsite with the Cabinet Secretary and Prime Minister’s Office to coordinate attendance and logistics for Cabinet and committee meetings, ensuring meetings run effectively.
Legal Information Integrity
- Supporting Cabinet’s consideration of significant appointments.
- Managing the business of the Federal Executive Council in consultation with the Office of the Governor General.
- Identifying and managing legal risk and providing advice on Cabinet-related Freedom of Information exemptions and Public Interest Immunity claims in compulsory legal processes and inquiries.
Reform, Engagement and CabNet+ Implementation
- Supporting process improvements across the Division and CabNet+ programs.
- Effectively engaging with stakeholders who will be affected by, and required to implement, potential changes to process.
- Supporting CLO network development, training and engagement activities.
- Assisting with the on-boarding, off-boarding and training for new users on the CabNet+ system.
- Representing the division and the department in outreach activities to inform the wider APS on the Cabinet processes and systems.
Successful applicants need the ability to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 (with some positions requiring a Negative Vetting 2) security clearance.
