**The Department**

Nutrition Services are provided at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospital’s. This position is based at The Alfred Hospital. The joint Nutrition department is comprised of 46 EFT and 63 people and is organised into seven clinical streams. The Nutrition Department has had a long and valued relationship within the Alfred, with the first dietitian being employed in 1930. The department has a proud history of clinical and academic excellence. The Nutrition department has a strong relationship with Monash and Latrobe University Nutrition Departments and is integral to clinical teaching and training of student dietitians.

**The Role**

As the Senior ICU dietitian, you will co-lead the clinical operation of a small team of dietitians in the critical care stream of Alfred Health’s Nutrition Department and specifically support the care of patients in the Intensive Care Unit. The Alfred ICU is one of Australia’s leading ICU’s, with 60 beds and provides a number of state-wide services including trauma, burns, extracorporeal membrane oxygen, and hyperbaric medicine. Alfred Health’s Dietetics and Nutrition Department has a long history of providing nutrition care and a proud history of clinical and academic excellence. Alfred Health's Dietetics and Nutrition Department provides an integrated nutrition and dietetic service at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals.

Clinical expertise in critical care nutrition, strong leadership skills and a proven track record of co-ordination and implementation of quality initiatives in clinical nutrition are key aspects of this role.

**About you**

You will be able to demonstrate the Alfred Health values and you will be passionate about the care of patients in critical care. You will possess excellent clinical skills, with at least 7 years post-graduate experience as a Dietitian and be eligible for membership of DA and APD credentialing. You will be committed to quality improvement and service development based on best practise. You will also be organised and efficient, with a commitment to developing others. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to advance patient-centre care in ICU. You will have a relevant postgraduate qualification or be progressing toward one. Expertise and/or an interest in digital health, technologies and informatics is desirable.

You will also be provided with clinical supervision and explore opportunities to develop your clinical and leadership skills. You will become part of the Dietetics and Nutrition Senior Team, with opportunities to engage in relevant research, quality work and professional development.

**Skills/Qualifications Required**
- Possesses qualifications providing eligibility for full membership of Dietitians’ Australia (DA) and participation in the APD program
- 7 years clinical experience, with specialist experience in management of patients who are critically ill
- Higher qualification in (or proceeding towards) Health professional education, Management, Public Health or Research
