The role of Research Projects staff in CSIRO is to collaborate in scientific and technological activities with other research staff usually by assisting with detailed planning, undertaking or assisting with experimental, observational or technology development work, and in carrying out the more practical aspects of the work.

As part of the Printable PV Team in CSIRO Manufacturing, this role will deliver across a number of projects in the printed photovoltaics area. The broad goal of these projects is to translate laboratory research findings to industry-relevant fabrication processes at manufacturing scale.

**Your duties will include**:

- Develop practical, industry-relevant processes for printed solar film fabrication.
- Undertake materials, performance and degradation characterisation of printed solar films and related samples to refine printing, encapsulation and other fabrication processes.
- Contribute to the development of fabrication processes for both organic and perovskite based printed solar films.

**Salary**:AU$89k - AU$101k per annum (pro-rata for part-time)
plus up to 15.4% superannuation

**To be considered you will need**:
**Essential**
- Under CSIRO policy only those who meet all essential criteria can be appointed._
- Undergraduate or equivalent relevant work experience in materials chemistry and solar cell fabrication.
- Demonstrated experience in the fabrication of roll-to-roll printed (vacuum-free) solar cells.
- Demonstrated experience in handling and testing of large area flexible solar cells/modules (i.e. >100 cm2).
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation and deposition of carbon-based electrodes.
- Demonstrated experience in the encapsulation of solar cells on rigid and flexible substrates using a variety of encapsulants.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary, regionally dispersed research team, and carry out independent individual research, to achieve organisational goals.
- A record of science innovation and creativity plus the ability & willingness to incorporate novel ideas and approaches into scientific investigations.

**Desirable**
- Preparation of precursors used in the fabrication of carbon-based electrodes.
- Demonstrated experience in presenting research via oral presentations and posters to a variety of audiences.
- Solid theoretical background in the area of photovoltaics. Demonstrated experience in solvent-free and vacuum-free electrode deposition.For full details about this role please review the **Position Description.**
