Based at our Storey Street depot, this position supervises and leads a team of staff responsible for the delivery of operational waste management services. This role is accountable for ensuring all programmed activities meet agreed standards and are completed within specified deadlines and budget, as well as monitoring reactive requests servicing the local community.

Week 1

Monday 6:00am until 6:30pm

Tuesday 8:00am until 6:30pm

Friday 8:00am until 6:30pm

Week 2

Saturday 6:00am until 6:30pm

Sunday 6:00am until 6:30pm

Wednesday 8:00am until 6:30pm

Thursday 8:00am until 6:30pm

Summer Roster (aligned with Daylight Savings)

Week 1

Monday 10:30am until 10:00pm

Tuesday 12:30pm until 10:00pm

Friday 12:30pm until 10:00pm

Week 2

Saturday 10:30am until 10:00pm

Sunday 10:30am until 10:00pm

Wednesday 12:30pm until 10:00pm

Thursday 12:30pm until 10:00pm

- Demonstrated experience in team management and an ability to work as part of a team
- Demonstrated experience in financial management in a similarly sized operation
- Demonstrated experience in a waste management environment
- Demonstrated ability in the use of Technology One and Council’s systems
- Qualifications in Waste Management and/or Waste Management environment
- Extensive experience in a supervisor role in a waste management environment
- Experience in dealing with members of the public
- Experience in the promotion of a marketable item and/or program
- Competent keyboard skills including word processing and Microsoft software
- Class C driver’s licence
- Be self-motivated and show initiative in the delegated areas of responsibility
- A willingness to comply with all Council’s policies and procedures

**Things you will do**:

- Investigate maintenance requests from the public and determine an appropriate course of action
- Monitor reactive maintenance requests to ensure that they are allocated to the relevant work teams and completed to the specified standards within the required time frames
- Ensure that all financial aspects of the waste management operations are within allocated staff and budgetary constraints
- Coordinate the operations of waste management staff with a proactive approach to environment
- Train, develop and motivate staff to ensure that the team’s objectives are effectively and efficiently achieved
- Ensure an ethic with the focus on quality customer service that is responsive to the needs of the community
- Word processing, spreadsheet data recording, electronic networking and use field monitoring and data recording technology
- Exercise all delegated responsibilities in a diligent manner
- Ensure compliance with legislative, industrial, and Council policy requirements and standards in the areas of Equal Employment Opportunity, Work Health and Safety and environmental protection
