The Rehabilitation Trainee, Nepean Hospital, provides a high standard of clinical care to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in the practise of Rehabilitation, in the context of fulfilling the requirement of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians for Advanced Training in Rehabilitation Medicine.

Advanced Trainees are closely supervised and supported by Consultant Physicians and are encouraged to exercise increasing autonomy depending on their training level and skills. This gives the Trainees the opportunity to become confident whilst still enjoy daily supervision by the attending Physicians.

**What you'll be doing**
- Providing patient care in the Rehabilitation Department at Nepean Hospital at an Advanced Trainee level under the supervision of consultant physicians.
- Coordinating with surgical, nursing, and other disciplines to ensure optimal care including diagnostic tests and consultations.
- Working within a Department staffed with 7 rehabilitation specialists, 4 advanced trainees and 2 interns, as well as rehabilitation nursing and allied health staff.
- Rehabilitation advanced trainees will rotate within the service during their term. They will have the opportunity to work in the inpatient unit, as well as doing consultations or working in the MRT.

**Where you'll be working**
- Rehabilitation Medicine at Nepean Hospital (NH) is a key rehabilitation service between Penrith and Bathurst and a referral Centre for Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, more particularly for Nepean LGA patients.
- It has 30 rehabilitation inpatient beds on site, as well as providing a busy consultation service and operating an inreach rehabilitation service called MRT (mobile rehabilitation team). There are regular outpatient clinics including general rehabilitation, spasticity and amputee/orthotic clinics.
- The Service provides rehabilitation for most impairment groups Eg orthopaedics, neurological, amputees, geriatric syndromes, brain injury, spinal cord injuries, deconditioning to secondary to acute medical and surgical admissions.

**Essential requirements**
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Completion of minimum two (2) years postgraduate medical experience in Australian Health System with demonstrated experience and commitment in a rehabilitation setting.
- Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check.
- To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.

**Selection criteria**
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Sufficient clinical experience in order to undertake the clinical duties for clinical rotations, and proficiency in basic and advanced life support.
- Advanced ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
- Advanced communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience.
- Advanced good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Advanced independent clinical skills and judgement, with the ability to make sound decisions and problem solve with an awareness of limitations and ability to learn independently and modify behaviour accordingly.
- Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
