**About the role.**

The Principal Legal Advisor provides legal support to the Inspectors to assist each Inspector to fulfil their statutory functions.

**About the Inspectors**

The Inspector of the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC) is an independent statutory officer who oversees the LECC by:

- undertaking audits of the LECC’s operations to ensure compliance with the law;
- dealing with complaints about the conduct of the LECC and current and former officers; and
- assessing the effectiveness and appropriateness of the LECC's procedures.

The Inspector of the LECC has additional functions as an inspecting officer under various legislation which govern covert warrants in NSW including controlled operations, surveillance devices, telecommunications interceptions, covert search warrants, and criminal organisation search warrants.

The Inspector of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) is an independent statutory officer who oversees ICAC by:

- undertaking audits of the ICAC’s operations to ensure compliance with the law;
- dealing with complaints about the conduct of the ICAC and current and former officers; and
- assessing the effectiveness and appropriateness of the ICAC's procedures.
- You’re a qualified legal practitioner who enjoys working in an oversight and/or regulatory environment.
- You can exercise strong professional judgement and be accountable for the advice given on diverse legal, legislative, and related policy issues.
- You’re innovative and always looking for new ways to do things.
- You have experience in administrative law and are adaptable, resilient and agile.
- You have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide accurate, clear and comprehensive advice in short time frames.
- You have strong organisational skills, including the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- You have strong analytic ability and conceptual and problem-solving skills, including an ability to respond creatively.

**Your employment.**

You will be employed by the Premier’s Department and work under the direction of the Inspectors.

The Premier’s Department and the Cabinet Office commenced operations on 1 July 2023 as separate but complementary agencies at the centre of government, replacing the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

The Premier’s Department leads the state’s 430,000 public servants, driving collaboration and the delivery of whole-of-government priorities.

**Salary**: Clerk Grade 11/12. Package includes base salary ($139,787 - $161,663) plus superannuation and leave loading.
