The Academic Project Operations (APO) group works closely with our Research staff to ensure studies/projects are delivered. The team is responsible for the set-up, conduct and delivery of a study/project, according to best practice guidelines and research budgets.

**Duties and Key Responsibilities**

**_Pre-award_**
- Liaise with Research Services & Strategy team members to ensure high quality grant budgets are submitted

**_ Early post award project startup_**
- Represent APO at kick off meetings with the project leads to initiate operational activities
- Chair project team start-up meetings and record & distribute minutes
- Plan & develop the strategies for start-up activities to ensure successful project delivery
- Create entry into SPoT and liaise with Finance/Head of Operations to obtain a budget cost centre
- Draft initial project plans for review by project leads
- Drives development of protocols & develops information sheet and consent forms
- Initiates development of start-up documentation including but not limited to project manuals and tools
- Obtains quotes for project services such as Data Management & Statistics
- Develops the first version of the Case Report Forms
- Establish Trial Master Files
- Registers trials on the relevant clinical trial registry
- Establish committee charters and liaise with prospective committee members
- Prepare and manage MOUs and contracts with external partners, collaborators, suppliers, and funders
- Support the project lead/s to identify resource requirements for the project teams and liaises with the Operations Lead/s to facilitate resourcing & handover of the projects

**_ Quality & Training_**
- Work closely with the Operations Lead team to ensure start-up processes are efficient and streamlined and ensure all projects start-up activities are delivered in accordance with TGI requirements, procedures, processes, and within ethical guidelines
- Review and contribute to the development of the TGI SOPs in relation to pre-and early post award procedures
- Prepare and deliver training to APO staff in project start-up activities

**_ Project Oversight and Reporting_**
- Coordinate progress reports as required, for project leads and other relevant stakeholders
- Provide input on ongoing risk analysis and strategic planning for allocated projects

**_ Stakeholder Management_**
- Act as a contact point between the research programs and TGI to facilitate and disperse communication and manage any enquiries relating to grant budget and /or project start-up activities
- Initiate and maintain effective relationships with the internal and external stakeholders

**Skills, Knowledge and Experience**

**_ Essential_**
- Minimum 7-8 years’ experience in managing projects or delivering clinical research trials in a research or pharmaceutical environment
- Extensive knowledge and experience of Research and Project Management principles
- Substantive experience leading project teams and/or line managing employees
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead, develop, coach and mentor project team members
- Experience at seeking project opportunity areas, initiating process improvements, and developing guidelines and procedures
- Solid experience developing, managing, and tracking budgets.
- Solid experience in contracts management and oversight
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence at highest level.
- Demonstrated clear interpersonal written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate with various professions and on different levels.
- Experience with regulatory bodies and research ethics committees.
- Experience in overseeing and supporting collaborative projects amongst a multidisciplinary team, in accordance with, ICH/GCP and all applicable regulations and guidelines in the relevant regions.
- Extensive experience in academic / university / medical research /biotech / pharmaceutical environment.
- Adaptability and flexibility to handle a wide range of stakeholders, ambiguous conditions and changing priorities.
- Ability to see the big picture, yet still focus on detail and quality of work.
