**The Role
**In this newly created role as **_Fashion Design & Trend Forecasting Manager _**you are responsible for leading & facilitating an end to end approach to trend and innovation along with providing seasonal direction for our own brands ensuring we deliver a cohesive story to customers and execute with impact. This is a **_6 month fixed term contract _**opportunity.
- Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Partner internally and externally to research, identify and interpret global and local trends. Shape the direction for macro trends, flowing through into seasonal guidance for our own brands. Ensure trends are translated with a commercial lens and broad appeal
- Communicate trend direction with the team through creative storytelling, presentations and workshops. Provide the toolkit to support brand/range build in alignment
- Develop a continuous pipeline of innovation ideas aligned to our strategic goals. Partner with our end to end team to bring to life on time and within budget
- Champion a deep understanding of the BIG W strategy (4 big rocks), customer, purpose and brand ensuring we reflect all in the way we interpret trends
- Utilise data and customer insights to inform research and decision making
- Facilitate an agile short lead trend rhythm through customer listening and market research allowing the team to respond quickly to new opportunities
- Responsible for leading the digital content merchandising team to create inspiring solutions to showcase our brands for team and customer driving a strong connection to the customer plan reflecting all channels (in store and digital)
- Develop a team of design professionals, ensuring they meet deliverables, work end to end to deliver better results for team and customers

**About You
- Formal qualification in design, fashion or related field
- Extensive experience in a similar role
- A background in retail would be highly regarded
- Previous experience leading and developing a team
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in Adobe suite
- To be successful in the role, you will also bring with you the following attributes, knowledge & attributes:
- A customer first mindset, using the customer as the focal point for all decisions
- Strong commercial Acumen, strong analytical thinking with the ability to interpret results, analyse and plan for the future
- Demonstrated people leadership experience and able to identify and develop talent, create career paths and succession planning
- Strong stakeholder management skills and be able to influence and positively engage with others
