Principal Advisor - Office of the Assistant Director-General

As Principal Advisor your role will include the following key tasks:
- provide high-level analysis and advice regarding departmental policy and procedures, concisely framing vital information and recommendations to support effective decision-making to meet organisational objectives;
- exercise initiative and independence in managing the interface between the branches, divisions and department to facilitate the work of senior executives and the Ministers' office;
- identify critical issues, manage strategic initiative risks and coordinate and lead discussions with relevant internal and external stakeholders;
- lead initiatives to improve strategic alignment of operational policies, processes and practices;
- lead the preparation of reporting and ensuring that reports, submissions and presentations are clear, evidence-based and conceptually sound;
- drive a culture of continuous improvement and ensure that staff across the department are trained in standards and expectations relating to quality service delivery;
- strong and effective leadership of the team and foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour and high performance for equity and excellence in service delivery.
**About You**:The ideal applicant will have the following key attributes**:
- demonstrated experience in leading, motivating and managing others to achieve objectives;
- high-level writing skills and an ability to effectively and concisely summarise pertinent information to enable informed decision-making;
- well-developed analytical and conceptual skills and a proven ability to present complex concepts clearly;
- demonstrated experience managing corporate programs, projects and processes at an organisational level and the ability to deal with ambiguity and shifting priorities; and
- be able to work with limited direction to produce results.
