School Infrastructure NSW (SINSW) is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.

Primary purpose of the role
- Provide bespoke expert advice on strategic options and/or preferred option in meeting long term projected school capacity requirements such as new school or school upgrade requirements, location of new schools, timing/staging of school upgrades or new schools and other school infrastructure capacity requirements.
- Produce factual, concise and visually based reports and/or briefing for long term school infrastructure requirements. The purpose of these reports is to summarise the evaluation of several strategic options developed with key stakeholders and provide recommendations on preferred infrastructure requirements for a defined area for consideration into the Department’s future Capital Investment Plans.

Key Responsibilities
- Proactively influence stakeholders to align outcomes that optimises infrastructure planning objectives.
- Produce visually based reports which summarises the case for change, key options assessed and preferred approach to school infrastructure capacity requirements.
- Develop, test and evaluate infrastructure and non-asset options to address capacity requirements of a defined study area in consultation with key stakeholders.
- Obtain key stakeholder buy in to recommend a preferred option that could progress to strategic business case(s) and/or inform future CIP.
- Drive outcomes with other teams to support the preferred infrastructure option such as property requirement, intake area assessments and etc.
- Continuously review and if required, reassess preferred options due to changes such as population forecast, policy changes and etc.
- Assess and provide expert advice on impacts on existing schools and analyse school capacity requirements as required.
- Assist the Manager, Infrastructure Strategy and Planning and Director, Infrastructure Planning in continuous improvement initiatives and organisational wide objectives.
- Run workshops, briefing sessions and other consultation as required in the development, assessment, and refinement of options.
- Liaise and collaborate with internal stakeholders to co-ordinate inputs for strategic option development.
- Brief and communicate the development of strategic options, infrastructure requirements and any preferred approach to internal and/or external stakeholders. These include consultants, other teams and senior leadership members such as Directors, Executive Directors, Senior Project Directors, Business case consultants, Assurance Reviewers and etc, as required.

Requirements and Qualifications

Key knowledge and experience
- Experience in property development, strategic planning, and infrastructure planning and/or business case development.
- Mentor and lead junior staff.
- Experience and understanding of housing and planning strategies and business case development process.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Power BI.
- Working with multidisciplinary teams to drive outcomes.
- Understanding of population and dwelling forecasts.
