**About the role**
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications and Media within our incredible Marketing and Communications team, the Media and Communications Specialist is responsible for contributing new promotional ideas, creating media content and engaging with the media to implement promotional activities, which help to build awareness of RSL Queensland’s services and social contributions, advocate the needs of Veterans and the broader defence community and help drive demand for our RSL Art Union.

A large part of this role will assist the Senior Manager to research, write, distribute and evaluate a range of content, including articles, media releases, talking points, speeches, briefs, statements and media responses for spokespeople, in both a proactive and reactive media environment.

**About You**
- Tertiary qualification in Communications or a closely-related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in media relations and/or corporate communication including some experience in issues management and working in a PR or communications agency.
- Significant demonstrated expertise proactively creating media opportunities and events in support of organisational objectives.
- Proactive. Jumps out of bed in the morning eager to create and leverage opportunities to utilise media relations to advance the achievement of our marketing missions.
- Self-starter. Capable of leading assigned projects to required outcomes without close supervision.
- Results-oriented. Ensure media engagement is focussed on marketing mission outcomes and a strategic thinker.
- Collaborative. Chips in. Wants to help the broader team. Is open to ideas and being helped. Consults team and peers to tap their perspectives and ideas.
- Highly articulate writer, presenter, persuader.
- Resilient. Thrives in a dynamic and agile work environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Can build and maintain positive and effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
