An exciting opportunity for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead the delivery of payroll services for a large and complex organisation and drive improvements in customer satisfaction and compliance through operational excellence, technology, and data insights.
- From $127,609 to $134,775 (HEW Level 9), plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.
- Full time, continuing role. Based at Wallumattagal campus, North Ryde.
- High performing team. Hybrid working arrangement.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Head of HR Shared Services, the Manager, Payroll Services will lead and manage the delivery of efficient and effective payroll and superannuation services to the University Group.

The role will be responsible for:

- Leading the delivery of payroll services including providing timely and effective resolution of enquiries and complex payroll issues.
- Building and managing a high performing team including resource allocation, capability development and performance management.
- Ensuring payroll and superannuation processes meet control requirements associated with internal and external audit, ATO and Office of State Revenue and comply with all relevant requirements including legislative requirements.
- Providing operational oversight of payroll services and escalate issues and risks to the Head of Unit and other key stakeholders.
- Ensuring that systems are fit for purpose, fully tested and optimised to support continuous improvement of payroll services.
- Building and maintaining relationships and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Driving the ongoing analysis and review of services and processes to identify opportunities for improvement and enhancement.
- Developing service performance standards and reporting against performance metrics that are aligned with Service Connect’s Service Management framework.

About You

You have extensive experience in leading and managing a high performing payroll team including managing the team’s activities and the day-to-day operations of complex and high-volume payroll requirements.

With a strong customer-focused approach, you will have excellent communication skills and demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels, as well as driving and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and achieve efficiency.

You will have solid understanding and experience of complex payroll operations with exposure to a diverse range of Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements, Superannuation, PAYG, Single Touch Payroll, Work Cover and Salary Packaging processes, ensure payroll and superannuation processes comply with all relevant requirements.

To Apply
- Undergraduate qualifications in business, accounting, human resources or a related discipline plus strong payroll management experience in a large and complex organisation, and/or an equivalent combination of extensive relevant training and professional experience in a payroll management position.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing the performance of a team of payroll professionals with end-to-end delivery of payroll services to clients on strict deadlines.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of complex payroll operations with exposure to a diverse range of Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements, Superannuation, PAYG, Single Touch Payroll, Work Cover and Salary Packaging processes.
- Strong computer skills and demonstrated experience in the use of complex HR/Payroll Enterprise Systems. Experience with Kronos, Workday and Ascender Pay is highly regarded.
- Exceptional organisational and operational management skills with a high degree of drive, initiative, outcome orientation and the capacity to manage multiple and often conflicting priorities.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Experience working in professional service delivery functions in complex stakeholder and policy environments, with demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
