**The Team**

The AEC has a dispersed network of 151 electoral divisions, 50 of which are located across New South Wales and the ACT including State Office in the Sydney CBD and several single and multi-divisional office sites across the state.

The Project Officer position supports the Team Leaders and Senior Project Officers and work alongside a small dynamic team.

For the delivery of a federal election or by-elections, staffing rapidly expands to help manage the increased workload around risk management, fast moving project work and logístical activities, media, and public scrutiny.

**The Opportunity**

The Project Officer assists in the day-to-day management of matters relating to the corporate governance and election readiness functions. This includes administrating, planning, and coordinating short term tasks and longer-term initiatives. During an election event, the Project Officer will deliver key election projects as required.

The Project Officer needs to be flexible, organised, goal-oriented, able to clearly communicate results and focused on delivering high quality outcomes within strict timeframes.

To excel you’ll have:

- A demonstrated ability to provide administrative support, accurately record project progression and complete tasks within strict timeframes.
- Experience assisting with the planning, scheduling and completion of components of projects and an ability to check project progress including monitoring schedules and checking budget data.
- An ability to conduct research and analysis as required and reach evidence-based conclusions to assist in the management, preparation and coordination of procedures and delivery of projects.
- An ability to remain positive and respond to increased levels of pressure in a calm manner, while achieving goals within tight timeframes and responding to competing and changing priorities.
- A demonstrated ability to manage increased workloads in the context of tight timeframes.
- A demonstrated ability to maintain key internal and external relationships, including liaising with stakeholders on project or operational issues, and responding to stakeholder needs and expectations.
- Exercise independent judgement and resolve workplace issues with a degree of guidance and monitoring from management.
- To work independently and remotely from your manager on occasions.
