**About the Role**
Join us as a Collection Management Officer at the University of Melbourne Archives Based predominantly in Brunswick, you will work collaboratively across multiple sites to ensure the safe and successful delivery of collection management activities. As a key player in the Archives and Special Collections (ASC) Collection Management team, you will administer the registration, logistics, and movements for incoming Archival collections. Working closely with the Archivist, Appraisal, and other roles, you'll champion strong collection management principles throughout the collection development process. Your contributions will extend to space management and planning for the repository, storage and preservation, and disaster preparedness, making a lasting impact on the University of Melbourne Archives.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Assisting with ASC collection maintenance, preservation, and conservation, while advocating for collection interests in appraisals, acquisitions, displays, loans, movements, and access programs.
- Maintaining accurate records for materials accessioned into the University of Melbourne Archives.
- Contributing to improving collection documentation standards, workflows, and guidelines.
- Under supervision, liaising with and overseeing external contractors and stakeholders to ensure the proper care of ASC collections and facility maintenance.

**Who we are looking for**
Are you a self-motivated professional eager to advocate for best practices in the care and management of archival collections? Leverage your expertise in collection management, registration, logistics, and contemporary information management to contribute to the continuous improvement of our operational practices. Your comprehensive knowledge of preservation and conservation principles, coupled with your ability to work collaboratively with others, adaptability to change and problem-solving skills will be highly desirable.

You will also have:

- Tertiary qualifications and/or professional experience in archival records, information, or collection management, or equivalent relevant background.
- Proficient in archival principles, legislation, standards, with demonstrated process implementation skills.
- Demonstrated handling skills for archival or cultural collections, and experience in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies relating to the handling of archives and material culture, including packing/unpacking, movement, storage, display, and digitisation.
- Experience using environmental monitoring equipment and creating and implementing environmental monitoring and IPM plans.
